Music and Education Staff
There are beautiful sounds all around us. Sounds of birds chirping, creeks babbling, and in my household a 3 and 5 year old “playing.” Okay, so not all sounds are beautiful in the traditional sense.
But something magical happens when you put some sounds together. When you add a melody, some instruments, and somebody that can direct them all in unison. Those sounds turn into music.
Music can alter your day, music can make you feel things, make you remember fond memories, and music can unite a group of people in worship.
My name is Jordan Quickel and I am a member of the Generosity Committee. This year the
committee chose Ephesians Chapter 4 verses 11 to 13 which reads: And his gifts were that
some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors, and some teachers, for the equipping of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ, until we all attain the unity of faith and the knowledge of the Son of God.
WPC is rich in music!
Our staff lead by Russ Nagy and his team provide us with the bell choir, youth rock, angelic singers in the choir, and beautiful piano and organ playing. We start our service with music, and we end our service with music. Music is the bookends of our Sunday worship.
But, remember when I mentioned my kids “playing” and the noise they make….. Well, that is
music to others as well. Our staff in charge of the children at WPC hears music in the laughter children bring, the excitement they expel, and yes even sometimes in the other strong emotions they have.
Nick Robison, director of our Youth Ministries, gets to experience the sounds of youth, from the laughter to the angst of teenagers. Annie Barner does the job of coordinating all the children from infants to 5 th graders, and pours her heart and soul into seeing them grow in the lord. Carrie Houk, the Preschool Director, leads the education team and brings fresh energy to teaching and caring for the children at our Preschool. My family’s introduction to WPC and their loving care of children was with Tiffany Ramos, the Nursery coordinator, who has patiently watched our two kids during the service over the last few years.
Whether it is the sounds of children, the sounds of the organ, or how suspiciously everybody around me sings amazingly during the hymns….Wait am I am bad singer? The staff at WPC keep gifting us the ability to come to worship, stay in the word, and go out and express God’s Love.
You should have already received the pledge packet. Consider making your pledge on
November 10th to help support all those working for WPC, and all the ministries that WPC
supports. That would be music to my ears!
