Welcome
Worthington Presbyterian Church is a place where people can meet Jesus, engage in life-giving community, and everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory. Join us for our Sunday services!

What To Expect

Where Can I Park?
Off-street parking is available on the north and west sides of the church grounds (WPC - HC indicates accessible parking). Sunday morning parking is also available in the parking lot of the adjacent Griswold Center (GC), and across High Street in the parking lot of the Huntington National Bank (HNB). Off-street Sunday morning parking is also available in the parking lot on the northwest corner of West Stafford Avenue and High Street. On-street parking is available west of the church on Oxford Street, or north of the church on West Stafford Avenue.
Driving Caution: for those who drive north on High St. to come to the church. It is not safe or legal to turn left from High Street's center lane onto Village Green Drive NW. This turn must be made from the inside northbound High Street lane, not the center lane, because at that point in the road, the center lane is designated only for southbound traffic that is turning east on 161. You can also safely access our parking lot in two alternative ways: (1) turn left onto Dublin-Granville Rd (Rt 161), then take the first right onto Oxford St; or (2) turn left into the Griswold Center parking lot (where you also may park on Sunday mornings).

Are You accessible to the physically disabled?
Yes, the facility is accessible for those with disabilities. Accessible parking (HC) is located near the two accessible entrances, which are located at the east and west sides of the building (see floor plans below). The main entrance to our Sanctuary has a wheelchair ramp and hand-rails. An elevator provides access to both levels of the facility, and there are multiple accessible restroom locations. Listening devices for the hearing impaired are available in the Narthex (the entry vestibule of the east entry) - just ask one of our ushers - they'll be standing around looking conspicuous and wearing Usher badges, too - they'll be happy to provide one to you for use during the service.

is childcare available?
Childcare is available during the service. Nursery care is available for infants through age 3. Please bring your infant/toddler to the Nursery before the service. As you can see on the diagram below, it's located on the Lower Level, across the hall from the Fellowship Hall. When you bring your child to the Nursery, you'll be given a vibrating pager, to notify you of any emergency related to your child that requires your immediate presence in the Nursery.
Children in Preschool through Grade 7 are invited to begin the worship service with their parents in the sanctuary. The service will include a Children's Message, after which, children will be led to Church School.
Since worship is intended to be experienced and participated in from the widest possible gathering of God's people, young adults Grade 8 and above should remain with their parents in the sanctuary for worship.

How will i find my way around?
There are plenty of directional signs and friendly people to help you find things once you're inside, but here are some helpful diagrams for you.
Since our church grounds are on a slope, both the Upper and Lower Levels are directly accessible from the outside and parking area.

How will i know what to do during the service?

Don't worry at all. When you come into the sanctuary, an Usher will greet you and give you a bulletin, which contains the Order of Worship for the day. Most of the time, if you're supposed to stand up, or sit back down, the pastor will say so (and just so you know, if there's an asterisk * next to something in the Order of Worship, it means to stand, if you're able).
Our services usually include some call-and-response portions, too. In all of those circumstances, the part said by the pastor or the liturgist (reader) is printed in the Order of Worship in normal text, and the congregational response is in bold type. So come in, relax, and worship God with us!

What should I Wear?

People have different opinions about what is the "right" kind of attire for church. Some feel that dressing more formally is a sign of respect given to God, recognizing God's majesty and lordship as we come into God's presence. Others feel that dressing less formally is a recognition that God comes to us in our lives where we are, as we are, so formal dress is not required. So who's right? Both of them, actually. Because of that, we invite people to follow their conscience in deciding what to wear when they join us on a Sunday morning. Typically, you'll see a lot of suits and dresses. In all honesty, you may see more of them here at WPC than you might in some less traditional congregations. You'll also see a lot of business casual attire. And you'll see some more informal wear, too. So whether you feel like dressing formally, casually, or informally as your conscience dictates, you'll find others dressed like you are. However, formally or informally you choose to go, as long as you dress modestly - or, as someone once put it, "Dress in a way that wouldn't embarrass your grandmother" - you'll be just fine.
We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, or divorced-and-remarried; gay, straight, rich or poor. We welcome Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives, and those somewhere in between. We extend a special welcome to those with crying newborns, broken hearts, or in need of a safe place.
We welcome you if you can sing like Andrea Bocelli, or not. You’re welcome here if you’re just browsing, just woke up or just got out of jail. We don’t care if you’ve been coming here for the last fifty years, or if you've never been to church before – you are equally welcome here.
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome soccer moms or dads, NASCAR dads or moms, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or who are still addicted. We welcome you if you’re having problems or you’re down in the dumps or if you don’t like organized religion - we’ve all been there, in one way or another, too. If you blew all your offering money partying or betting on the Buckeyes, you’re still welcome here. We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don’t work at all, or because grandma is in town and wanted to go to church.
We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, for reasons they'd rather keep to themselves, and to those who have had religion shoved down their throat as a kid and hated it and can't even understand why they came here today. We welcome you if you just got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding hearts … and you!
