YWCA Family Center

WPC members volunteer to host dinner approximately 7-8 times a year at the YWCA Family Center (YFC), which provides emergency shelter and critical services to stabilize homeless families in central Ohio. Their goal is to help families find housing within 3 weeks of entering the program. Every day of the year, they rely on volunteers to provide and serve three nutritious meals a day to their families.

WPC prepares and serves dinner to homeless families staying at the shelter. We will feed approximately 120 adults and children on:

  • January 22
  • March 6
  • April 29
  • June 24
  • Aug 26
  • Oct 28
  • Dec 9

Volunteers are needed to serve the dinner at the Y from 5-8 pm as well as to provide food from a list of needed items.  Our entree can be prepared at home and reheated at the Y.  We are always in need of food donations, labeled “ Y Family” and placed in the church kitchen before the Y dinner.

Individuals at the Y are very appreciative of our delicious hot home cooked meals! To be part of this ministry, contact Danielle Heiden at 614-395-6818 or chski44574@aol.com to have your name added to the email list.
The YFC is located at 900 Harvey Court, Columbus, 43219. Food items can be delivered to our church kitchen by 4pm on the date of service, clearly labeled for the Y Family Center.
