Session Update
November 2024
Below is a brief summary of the November 4 Session meeting:
- Session approved endorsing Nick Robison, our Director for Youth Ministries, to advance from inquirer to candidacy for ordination to the ministry of Word and Sacrament. Presbytery will vote on endorsing Nick as a candidate at its November 19th meeting. WPC members are invited to support Nick at this meeting. Learn more
- In light of the favorable financial results in 2024 and the Staff not receiving a Cost of Living Adjustment this year, Session approved a special bonus for Worthington Presbyterian Church staff members. The special bonus will be distributed in December and will have a total cost of $9,950. This will not replace the end of year love offering for staff members.
- Session approved retaining Paul La Montagne as our gap pastor through the end of December, and potentially extending that into 2025. Paul remains ready to stop serving here whenever Wayne Morrison is able to begin as our gap pastor or until we have a new Senior Pastor in place.
- Session approved setting up a mobile Welcome Center in Fellowship Hall and a mobile Visitor Center in the sanctuary narthex and the chapel. These centers will have visitor packets, as well as visitor and member information, and will be staffed by a trained volunteer. An anonymous gift will pay for the expense.
- Due to the absence of any planned activities related to the outdoor venue project in the foreseeable future, Session approved writing off the costs related to the design phase of this project. Such costs were incurred in 2022 and 2023 and totaled $63,050, and they were sitting in a Work In Progress status within our Fixed Assets. This expense will be reflected within the Fixed Asset Fund.
