A Special Day

Peter Okyere and others on stage at Covenant Presbyterian Church
Tuesday, September 19, was a special day for our Presbytery, for Worthington Presbyterian Church, and for our own Peter Okyere.

Peter, a native of Ghana (and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana), served as a deacon at our church, and now is a ruling elder and chair of our Adult Education Committee. Peter went to seminary in Ghana, and last May he graduated with his Master's Degree in Theology from Dubuque Theological Seminary - one of our Presbyterian seminaries.

Last Tuesday, the co-moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA) attended our Presbytery meeting and preached. And after her sermon, Peter was commissioned by our Presbytery.

As a Commissioned Ruling Elder, Peter will reach out to and welcome former members of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, a church east of us on 161 which closed this summer. He will also be ministering to refugees and immigrants who have come to Central Ohio.

And he will do all of this on behalf of our Presbytery and our congregation. It was extraordinary to see how many WPC members, friends, family members and supporters came to the Presbytery meeting.

Peter already has a large network and a vast international prayer ministry. Please keep Peter, his wife, Jackie, and their children, Ohenewaa and Caleb, in your prayers.

We look forward to what the Lord will do!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Tom
