October 2023 Session Update

Session met on October 2. Here is a brief summary of the meeting:

1) Session approved an updated finance policy "to ensure integrity, accountability, and transparency with respect to the financial transactions of WPC and to provide for appropriate accounting controls and consistency of practice."

2) Session approved an updated child safety policy. The policy is reviewed each year and is part of our teacher training.

3) Session approved having our Friendship Dinners served once again in Fellowship Hall starting Monday, November 6. During COVID, the dinners were only take out or drive thru.

4) Sunday, October 29, will be our Lombard Reconciliation Service, as well as Pledge Commitment Sunday and Reformation Sunday.

5) After receiving the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center report to our church, Session will be reviewing the recommendations from church members presented at our "Problem Solving Session" on September 23. Session will be prioritizing the recommendations and working on implementing them.

6) Session approved a worship schedule for Sunday, December 24. We will have one service in the morning at 10am (the 4th Sunday of Advent), and then we will have a Family Christmas Eve Service at 3pm, and Candlelight Christmas Eve services at 6 and 9pm.
