Blessed With A Challenge

I think challenges are, generally speaking, a good thing. A significant challenge can grow the strength of our perseverance. Once we make our way, by God’s grace, through a challenging time, we find we have learned and grown and discovered a deeper strength. In that way a challenge can refine and prove the authenticity of our faith and commitment.

Yesterday WPC members received an email detailing a challenge that is before this congregation. All congregations face financial challenges, and our congregation is no exception. This financial challenge was growing in the congregation for a few years. Session has given this challenge a great deal of thought and prayer. In response, they are asking members of the congregation to join them in meeting this challenge.

Session, committed to the fact they could not ask the congregation to do what they were not willing to do, agreed to raise their pledges to help close the budget gap. Every Elder on Session has made this commitment, along with the pastoral staff. Now they will be asking you to join them in this challenge.

Worship attendance is climbing; Tuesday Nights Together is flourishing; we have new member classes and a good-sized Communicants’ class. Each week we have a number of visitors. The challenge is to continue building momentum. I invite you to join us in this challenge.

Prayerfully consider increasing your pledge of time, talents, and money. This challenge is in your hands. God is good. See you Sunday.

Peace,
Pastor Tim
Interim Senior Pastor
